U.S. Economic Development Administration Invests $750,000 to Strengthen Aviation and Transportation-Related Industries in Georgia


WASHINGTON
– The U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) today announced a $750,000 grant to the Brunswick & Glynn County Development Authority in Brunswick, Georgia to upgrade airport infrastructure and enable the expansion of two aviation-related businesses. According to grantee estimates, the project will create 150 jobs and generate $3.5 million in private investment.

Stambaugh Aviation Ramp Expansion in Brunswick Georgia“Supporting locally driven economic development plans and priorities is central to EDA’s mission and purpose,” said U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Jay Williams. “The EDA investment announced today will enable the community of Brunswick to grow their aviation capabilities and businesses, creating jobs and economic growth for the region.”

EDA’s investment will construct the north apron at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport to support expansion of two aviation-related businesses that provide maintenance, repair, and operations services to general aviation aircraft. According to the grantee, this project will also strengthen the region’s aeronautical, transportation, and logistics clusters.
