Owned and operated by the Georgia Ports Authority, the Port of Brunswick is located 12 miles landward from the open Atlantic Ocean. Currently, the channel width is being widened to 1,000 feet and the depth is being increased to 36 feet. The vertical height clearance of the Sidney Lanier Bridge is now 185 feet (at mean high tide). There is a 6 to 8 foot change in water depth twice daily.
At 1,700 acres, Colonel’s Island Terminal handles both roll-on / roll-off automobile and heavy equipment shipments, as well as agri-bulk commodities.
Specifically, Colonel’s Island processes inbound and outbound vehicles for some 15 major manufacturers including Porsche, Mercedes Benz, BMW and others. A dedicated breakbulk facility, Mayor’s Point Terminal is a 22-acre facility specializing in forest products and general cargo. Marine Port Terminals’ 145-acre facility handles a diverse mix of breakbulk and bulk commodities.
